On October 15&16, the world will come together and STAND UP and remind their governments that promises to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and help the billions living in extreme poverty, must be kept.

The purpose of the action is to raise awareness of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to publicly demonstrate to policy makers the growing global support for the eradication of poverty.Find out how you can Join an existing event in your area or Organize your own STAND UP events.

Stand Up because:

- Every day 24,000 people die from hunger

- Every day 1.1 billion people have to drink polluted water
- Every day 8,200 people die due to HIV/AIDS

Art Action to Conserve the Star Ferry Clock Tower continues

[please join and find out...a conservation project initiated by Kith Tsang and his students]

“Action continues until you are aware of it.”

Art Action to Conserve the Star Ferry Clock Tower

3-5pm today
Star Ferry, Central

Two months have passed since members of the Hong Kong society took a
series of action to save the Star Ferry. On August 20, the Office of the
Chief Executive and several government departments formally received the
written petition with 6000 signatures. And yet, they have not directly
responded to the demands of the public. Nor have they launched any
documentary and research exercises that a cultural heritage as the Star
Ferry Pier and Clock Tower deserve and urgently need. There is not
even any indication that the slightest trace of the existing pier could
be conserved and integrated into the design of the new promenade.
Instead, in a reactionary and calculated move, they invited the press to
visit the soon-to-be completed ‘nostalgic’ new ferry pier, announcing
and demonstrating to the press their cultural taste. This total
disregard and ridicule of the public appeal is extremely disappointing.

We want action, not memories.

We are a group of young artists. After the 820 Art Action to Save the
Star Ferry, we launched a new series of public performance art on
September 10 at the Star Ferry. Every Sunday afternoon, we will take art
to action and action to art-

Our art action responds to the urban environment;
Our art action looks after the urban environment;
Our art action brings history back to the forefront of urban spaces;
Our art action aims at raising public awareness of caring our own
historical-urban environment;
Our art action appeals to the public’s support to save the Star Ferry
and the clock tower;
Our art action questions why and how our histories have been
systematically erased from both sides of the Victoria Harbour;
Our art action welcomes public participation.

Don’t ask how old we are. Ask how much history you dare give us back.
