The 6th Asia-Europe Art Camp: Ludic Time|The Art of Gaming
Dates: July 22-29, 2008 Singapore
Organizer: Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) in partnership with International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA 2008)
ISEA focused on New Media Art. It aims at developing a platform for promoting dialogue for art students to learn more about one another’s contexts, cultures and to get inspired during a week of lectures, workshops, cultural visits and public presentation(s). Focusing more on the creative process than on the “artistic product”, the Camp has been designed to be a learning experience and an opportunity for professional development.
On Ludic Time|The Art of Gaming…
The event will recruit 20 emerging artists or students, usually in their final year of study, from for an intensive week of workshops, lectures and meetings as well as artistic and collaborative work. A team of Asia-Europe artistic advisors and resource persons specialized in art and technology will lead and facilitate the workshops during the camp.
The theme of gaming…
the nature of our contemporary ludic culture, taking into account psychology and theories of gaming (as tools for social development and awareness, real-life situation simulations, artificial and augmented realities, serious games for education and games as an art form). Electronic, internet-based and pervasive games and their roles in urban society will be discussed as well as the possibilities for Asia-Europe game development collaborations and industry-artist-researcher partnerships.
We are invited to pre-select 2-3 students to represent our school to take part in this camp.
If you’re interested, please refer to the attached documents and write Linda ASAP.
The final selection will be done by the organizers based on the students pre-selected by schools that we have contacted.
Deadline for the application: 28 May 2008 (Wednesday)
