Guo Xiaoyan, Chief curator of Ullens Center for Contemporary Art. Guo is going to introduce the current situation and exploration of various non-profit art spaces in China today—Shanghai Zendai MoMA, Beijing Today Art Museum and Long March Project. She will explain their models of running, exhibitions, education and cultural programs, site commissions, limited editions and store, membership system, sponsorship and cultural features. She will also talk about their contributions to the Chinese contemporary art scene, their relationship with artists, audience, Government and cooperates as well as the opportunities and challenges that they have to face.
Guo Xiaoyan has been the Chief Curator of Ullens Center for Contemporary Art since 2007. She was the Vice Dean of Guangzhou Triennial Office in Guangdong Museum of Art, curator of Guangdong Museum of Art. During 1999 – 2002, she took part in the founding and organizing work of Upriver Gallery which was the first private-owned gallery in China.
Para/Site 藝術空間將於三月十八日，於香港藝術發展局舉辦公開講座；講者為尤倫斯當代藝術中心首席策展人﹣郭曉燕。郭氏結合她長期在中國非營利藝術機構的工作經驗，介紹當前中國非營利藝術空間概況。內容包括國營美術館、商業畫廊、民營／外資非營利機構（上海的證大現代藝術館、北京的今日美術館及「長征計劃」及尤倫斯當代藝術中心）的經營模式，並介紹藝術家特定場所制作項目、限量版產品和商店、會員制度及贊助等。郭氏更會講解這些活動對中國當代藝術的影響和作用，以及中國非營利藝術空間所面臨的機遇和挑戰。
郭曉燕於一九九九至二零零二年參加中國第一家民間美術館 – 成都的上河美術館的建設和管理工作；於二零零二至二零零七年任廣東美術館廣州三年展辦公室副主任及當代藝術策展人；二零零七年九月起任尤倫斯當代藝術中心策展人；現任尤倫斯當代藝術中心首席策劃人。

The new book is called “Para/Site 1996-2008″. I positioned it in the area of arts administration and Hong Kong art ecology. The bookstores showed it in the eye-catching area. Radio Metro Finance interviewed me. You can listen it this Sunday (Mar. 8, 2009) at 7pm to 7:30pm in Catonese. I change the channel now.

當一層層木板圍著七座龐大公屋組群時，擁有四十年歷史的牛頭角下村八至十四座勢將被畫上句號。我們再看不見三五成群的老人，在長長的公屋走廊，坐著磨得光亮的木凳上，互訴故事；也聽不見冰室老闆喊「三蚊一件菠蘿包，抵食夾大件」的響亮叫賣聲；更嗅不到遠遠從舊藥材舖發出來的氣味。這個社區裡的一切，就只留在記憶之中。在繁囂的城市裡，牛頭角下村這種地道的生活藝術和社區力量營造出來的個性和意蘊，正是香港特有的本土文化．
我們希望趁這最後一個徙置大廈清拆前做紀錄，豐富公屋發展歷史及香港故事。「牛下開飯─告別徙置生活展」，更集結了九位熱愛本土文化的藝術創作人，透過相片，影像，插畫，聲音，裝置藝術以及文字的多媒體界別，將地道的生活文化及精神呈現。他們運用街坊聚腳的活動空間─興記茶餐廳、源發粉麵檔、舊式理髮屋、傳統好紙紮舖作為展覽場地，預備了「九大簋」告別徙置生活的盛宴，讓大家共同細味。
